South Sudanese DJ and producer Turkana sees the dance floor as a battlefield that feeds on the tension between oppression and liberation. She loves to use the dance floor as a playground for her musical expression and she delivers soundtrack without compromise but always with fierceness and grace She is sometimes described as a mix of the London-based Congolese-Belgian DJ Nkisi and Jamaican 80s icon Grace Jones. She plays leftfield African electronics, hard dance, non-normative techno and underground from the global South. Turkana experiments with sounds from different times and backgrounds with the desire to interact and question, to be forward thinking and to push boundaries. On Friday night, you have the chance to wrap yourself in her unique soundscape and dance into a trance.
