The Poetry Stage - during 2016

The Poetry stage is situated at the Brandmannamuseet opposite Hembygdsgården and the Circus tent outside the festival area and has no admission fee. It is a place for those of you who likes words in all forms, with or without music. Poetry Slam has through the years become a more and more popular element at Urkult, and poets from all over meet here on stage. Spontaneous guest appearances are very welcome! The final which is held on Saturday normally fills the premises to the brim and has a cheerful atmosphere!

FRIDAY

2 PM Open Stage
Everyone, young and old is welcome to share their own poems, songs, others poems and material likewise - just like the loving and welcoming spirit of urkult.

2.30 PM Oskar Hanska
When Oskar get up on stage he is one with all emotions. Laughter, love, sadness, politics, everyday life and male ideals. Uncomfortable notions in a heated pace. His poetry has taken him around the world, to over ten countries outside Sweden. To places like Poetry Africa in South Africa and the legendary The Bowery in New York. Oskar Hanska is one of Sweden's leading Spoken-world poets. He has become multiple winner in Poetry Slam in Sweden, he is master of Scandinavia, winner of the European cup in Hanover and he won Best European poet in the World championship in Paris.

3.15 PM Audition to Poetry Slam
Do you want to participate at Urkult Poetry Slam, 2016? Notify your participation from 1.30 PM at the Poetry Stage. In the competition you will compete with your own material, no props is allowed, for maximum three minutes. The audience will then vote and from the points you have gathered you might go all the way to final and become the Poetry Slam Winner of 2016!


SATURDAY

2.30 PM Olivia Bergdahl
With her remarkable rhythm and intricate rhyme structure Olivia invite the audience to poems that fills you with laughter and tears. Her stage presence and skills will spellbound you, but she isn't afraid of having disputes with her audience when it comes to politics. Olivia has been a stage poet since early teens, and was only twelve when she participated in her first Poetry Slam. In 2007 she won the title Swedish Master in Poetry and she came four in the World Championship in Paris 2008, but also the title World best female stage poet. Apart from her career in stage poetry she has put out her poetry collection book Demo and written a critically acclaimed novel Efter Ekot and she has released the album Eldorado.

3.15 PM Open Stage
A short spot for spontaneous appearances before the final of Poetry Slam.

3.30 PM Poetry Slam Final
The festival most thrilling moment when the poets meet up over the title to become Poetry Slam Winner of 2016. The audience will vote for the winner and he or she will read the winning poem on the Main Stage. All fame and glory of course! Welcome to join a fantastic final where you as audience is participating in finding a winner!
