Rebellion is in the air when Ebo Krdum returns to Urkult. The self-taught multi-instrumentalist has introduced a brass-section to his music, and is now bringing his band to the festival to fill the night with hope and strength. “Kémetic Vibes” is Ebo Krdum’s latest work and his first self-produced album. The project is based on a big band setting and has been inspired by rhythms and melodies from the center/east African region formerly known as Kémet. The lyrics are about global change, nations fighting dictators and corruption, about disarmament and peace, revolution and migration. Ebo Krdum fled Sudan in 2010 and describes “Kémetic Vibes” as a rebellious musical act: he wants to reclaim a stolen history.
